Amazing vintage Hazara pendant in a square shape with a pretty etched design and a deep blue glass jewel. Square shape with hollow dangles on fine wirework chains. Some chain has been added to this piece to make a necklace, and it could be worn this way, but the chain is not of a quality equal to the pendant, and in my opinion should be removed and the pendant used to compliment your dance costuming or make into an extraordinary jewelry piece.
The Hazara originated in the Hazaristan (Hazarajat) region of central Afghanistan with a few being scattered to Pakistan and Iran. Hazara jewelry is often without the larger, colorful jewels that Kuchi jewelry is known for. Hazara jewelry can be delicate, with fine etching, delicate wirework and small dangles, or can be large, simple and solid in unique shapes and designs. The Hazara people have retained their own customs and traditions which are closely related to those of Central Asia.
