Vintage Turkoman temporal pendants with fire-gilded, linked sections. Details include etched design and deep red glass jewels. Five original, linked sections form a long pendant typically suspended at the sides of the head, hooked to a cap or headpiece. There is a hook on diamond-shaped section and a small hollow dangle at the other end. I have heard some refer to these temple pendants as tekaki pendants. Have you ever wondered why so many tribal peoples use red in their adornments? Over much of the world and through millennia, red has been considered the most potent force against evil influences. Red confronts the forces of darkness with the blaze of the sun and of life.
