Vintage Tribal SILVER Afghan Hoop Earrings With Bells

Vintage pair of Afghan silver hoop earrings made from silver wire with a hook and eye closure. These tribal hoops have bells attached that make a nice jingle. Large size hoops will definitely be noticed! Wires are about a 10 gauge, a bit thicker than western gauge wires and usually cannot be worn in western piercings unless you have stretched piercings or are used to wearing large, heavy earrings. These hoops are used pieces and have previously been worn in country. It is recommended that the wires be cleaned before wearing in your piercings. 

Afghan jewelry, especially Kuchi jewelry, has long been incorporated into tribal belly dance costuming and continues to be popular with dancers today. The story of Kuchi jewelry, like all tribal jewelry, is rich with influences from many cultures. These beautiful pieces with colorful glass jewels and jingling bells originally came from the nomadic Pashtoon tribes that wandered the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan, along ancient routes between the seasons, moving down from the mountains in the winter and back to higher elevations in the summer. The word Kuchi itself means migration in the Afghan Dari language, in relation to nomads, and does not describe a particular group or people, but rather a state of being.
