Large pair of solid metal matched fibula pins with jackal’s paw design.  These pins are new pieces made by tribal craftsmen.  In a full fibula set there is a long decorative handmade chain running from the bottom of one pin to the bottom of the other, and sometimes incorporates small pendants or coins. In Morocco and other North African countries, women traditionally wear a garment made from a long piece of fabric that is wrapped around the body. The ends are fastened at the shoulders with embellished pins like these - the original safety pin! The pin is pushed through the two pieces of fabric and back out again, then the ring is turned under the pin to hold securely.  Perfect for adding to tribal or renaissance faire costuming or incorporate into your belly dance costume for a unique embellishment.

Berber jewelry is large, showy, colorful and FUN!  It often includes lots of detail like enamel in bright colors, large jewels and coins.  It represents much more than simply adornment.  Each piece can signify fertility, wealth, social status and marital status.  The Berbers or Imazighen (‘Free people’; plural of Amazigh) are the original inhabitants of North Africa. They speak a number of related languages and share a common cultural heritage. Most Berbers nowdays live in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
