New Tuareg cross pendant from Morocco. This is a Bilma pendant made in solid metal with incised design on the front and a plan back. Great for stringing on simple black leather or cord, or mix it in with beads for a boho look. The Tuareg are a nomadic Berber people, primarily based in the Sahara. The crosses, usually grouped under the name crosses of Agadez, originated with the Tuareg people. The term “cross” has been attributed to these pieces by European language speakers and they do not have any affiliation with the Christian religions but the name instead derives from the constellation of the Southern Cross. There are traditionally 21 different crosses and variations on all of them. Tuareg artisans have the freedom to embellish their work in their own style.
